Dear Parents and Carers,
This is a brief update.
We do not have any confirmed cases of Covid-19 either amongst staff or students at the time of writing this update.
However, several staff at Walsall Studio School fall into the vulnerable category for the current Coronavirus situation. In addition, following government advice, whole families need to isolate for 14 days if any member of a household shows symptoms of a temperature or a cough.
These factors will increasingly result in significant numbers of teachers unable to come into school.
We have been able to remain open to all students today, and will continue to try and do this for the foreseeable future, however, it is very likely that there will come a point when we are unable to operate in a safe manner. At this point, we will need to close for individual year group(s), or for the whole school. We continue to make extensive preparation for education and learning to continue remotely at such times.
Any student that shows signs of a Coronavirus infection, such as a temperature or cough, should not attend school, and we are sending home any students that manifest such symptoms whilst at school. In addition, following more recent government advice, if a student is in a household where anybody displays these symptoms they need to stay in household self-isolation for 14 days.
The current worldwide situation is concerning to all.
I have been highly impressed with the staff here at Walsall Studio School at this time, they are covering for absent teachers and combining classes where necessary, their commitment has been first rate. I would also like to thank you as parents for your continued support at this time, I have found the families I have worked with over the last few weeks highly understanding and supportive in these current difficulties.
We will continue to do all we can to educate our students, in whatever form that may take, over the coming days, weeks and months.
With Kind Regards,
Walsall Studio School
