Launching in September 2020, Walsall Studio School is proud to be one of the first schools in the UK to offer a T Level in Digital Production, Design and Development.
T Levels brings classroom learning and an extended industry work placement together on a course designed with business, for business, to give you the chance to learn what a real career in digital is like while you gain a ‘gold standard’ qualification.
T Levels are a two-year full-time qualification – an alternative to A levels, other post-16 courses or an apprenticeship. If you want to get into the world of digital, this will give you a headstart.
T Levels are ideal if you have finished your GCSE’s and want skills and experience to get straight into employment, an apprenticeship or go into higher education.
In September 2019, the Minister for Education visited our school and said “Digital skills are in high-demand. Our new T Level in Digital Production, Design and Development which will be taught at Walsall Studio School from next September, will make sure more young people can gain the skills and experience they need to get ahead in their careers. It was great to meet students and staff and hear all about how they are ramping up preparations in readiness for the introduction of the new technical qualification next year.”

What is a T Level?
- One T Level is the equivalent of three A Levels.
- It’s a Technical Qualification with core theory, concepts and skills for a specific industry area and specialist skills and knowledge for a career or further study.
- It’s an industry placement with an employer, learning as an employee, not just a student.
- It’s a way of achieving the required standard in Maths and English if you’ve not already got it.
Walsall Studio School is delivering the new T Level in partnership with TIN Smart Social / Digisheds who will also be running the placements with their employer partners. These leading companies in the digital sector could offer placements in anything from professional services and creative media, to software and platform development, content creation, service desk management, UX/UI Design and VR/AR (and everything in between) so you can get digital where it matters most.
